Down is nature's own insulation, keeping your kids warm even in the coldest weather. To ensure the down clothes keep your child as protected as possible, proper care is key.

Washing kids' down jackets and snowsuits

Always wash Reima down jackets and snowsuits according to the care label, turning them inside out and washing them separately from other items. Only fill the washing machine halfway to give the clothes room to move. For extra care for your beloved items, use a detergent designed specifically for down or wool. Avoid fabric softener — it’s unnecessary and can reduce the breathability of the outer fabric. Take the outerwear out immediately once the wash cycle is done.

Drying a down jacket: Fluff as you go

For the best results, dry your Reima down jackets and snowsuits in a tumble dryer, checking the care label for the correct temperature. Turn the item inside out halfway through the drying process. And no, no tennis balls in the dryer — despite what you may have heard, your jacket doesn't need a tennis lesson! If you prefer not to use a tumble dryer, lay your Reima item flat in a well-ventilated area and fluff it every now and then as it dries. This helps prevent clumping, keeping the down fill lofty and warm.

Boosting clothing's water repellency

The better the fabric repels water, the drier — and warmer — the down will keep your child. You can treat your kids' down clothing just like other Reima outerwear: spray a protective coating on the fabric or use a wash-in treatment to soak into the entire garment easily.
