Supply chain

Our mission and ways of working are consistent the world over. The Reima family and partners across our supply chain all swear by the same ethical guidelines.

We support and monitor our suppliers and agents

Reima has production partners in several different countries. Most of our goods come from China. Other countries of origin are Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Italy and Finland.

We know all our suppliers well. There are no agents between us and them - we operate directly with the factories. We also know our fabric producers: we cooperate with them to develop our fabrics, their structures, colours and finishings. We also refine our prints all the way to production together with them. The same applies to most of our footwear uppers and soles.

All suppliers and agents producing goods for Reima must commit to meet or exceed the requirements of the Reima Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct covers e.g. the following areas of social compliance and human rights: Compliance with local legislation, ban of child or forced labor, wages and benefits, working hours, prevention of discrimination, harassment and abuse, freedom of association and collective bargaining, health and safety issues, and ethical conduct.

We monitor our manufacturing closely

Reima monitors and supervises all suppliers in the production chain regularly: In developing countries, our own quality team visits every garment or footwear factory at least four times a year, and other factories at least once a year. Reima carries out quality audits before and during production. Based on these results, corrective actions are taken to improve working conditions or quality.

Reima is a member of the international Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). BSCI membership requires to have periodic third party audit by neutral auditor. The auditor interviews factory management and carries out random tests on the working conditions. This auditing work is regular, and it usually takes place once a year. Reima works in long-term partnerships and requires each new subcontractor to join this auditing system, or a corresponding one. Reima also joined the Accord agreement for building and fire safety in Bangladesh. Although we have no production in Bangladesh nowadays, we feel it is very important to support the local efforts to improve the working conditions.

Reima Operational Handbook guides all suppliers

Created to improve co-operation, our handbook states all the requirements, which must be filled before co-operation can start, including instructions on quality assurance, corporate social responsibility and product safety.

In logistics, slow is better

The most ecological options for transporting goods are always our first choice, and air freight is avoided. Intercontinental transportation is mainly carried out by ships. On intracontinental freights also trucks are used.
