Plastic Water Bottles Turn Swimwear
Each day, more than sixty million plastic bottles are sent to landfills, which waste material and harm the environment. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We’re here to protect our children and their future, that’s why sustainability is at the heart of our work. And that’s why we’re now turning old plastic into brand new, high-quality garments.
So how can we spin the problem of plastic into an exciting new possibility?

Quality in the making
It all begins at a state-of-the-art processing plant where plastic bottles are thoroughly washed and chopped into small flakes. The flakes are melted into a liquid and compressed and filtered into tiny strands.
Each strand—five times finer than a human hair—is examined thoroughly before being bound together to make tough REPREVE fiber. REPREVE has a range of performance properties such as wicking, thermal regulation, cushioning, and odor control, so it’s ideal for sportswear and durable garments. We combine it with other materials such as elastane to make Reima colorful UV protective swimwear, T-shirts, jerseys, and much more.
We’re recycling plastic for a cleaner world
Over 14 billion plastic bottles are used to make REPREVE fiber, saving energy, reducing greenhouse gasses, and conserving enough water to quench the thirst of over 1.7 million people every year.
Plastic bottles take up to 1000 years to decompose in a landfill, and release C02 and other toxic chemicals into the atmosphere and ocean when they are incinerated. Plastic resin also seeps into the soil and groundwater, harming plants, animals, and humans. But recycling already existing plastic is said to be one of the best ways to fight climate change. That’s why we’re using it more and more in our collections.
Making the most from every material
The invention of new material beckons a brighter age for industries and consumers alike. But innovation isn’t everything, as eco-friendly choices start at home. Repairing, reusing, and reselling existing clothes is an easy and effective way to care for nature. That’s why we design clothes that last for generations.
